Bereavement leave policy change for university support staff

Submitted by Human Capital Services

Kansas State University has recently made a change in the bereavement leave policy for university support staff employees.

Effective immediately, the bereavement leave policy will include one day of leave for the death of a niece or nephew. The policy will read, "One day is allowed in the case of death of an aunt, uncle, niece or nephew of the employee or the employee's spouse."

This change is consistent with the request from University Support Staff Senate and with the policy for unclassified staff and faculty.

Kerry Jennings, University Support Staff Senate president said, "I am glad the University Support Staff Senate was able to take a concern from an employee and bring it to the attention of the university and have it resolved to help our staff in a time of need. This shows the caring of our leaders and commitment to the family of Kansas State University."

The Kansas Association of Public Employees has agreed to this change for its represented unit.
