Cassie Binns awarded Microscopy Society of America Undergraduate Research Scholarship

Cassie Binns has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Microscopy Society of America to conduct research in Daniel L. Boyle's lab in the Division of Biology on the project, "Morphological and ultrastructural characterization of alpha A- and alpha B-crystallins double knock-out mouse retinas."

Binns is a junior in biochemistry with secondary majors in microbiology and chemical sciences. She is working toward a career in biomedical research and plans on applying to graduate school to pursue an advanced degree in molecular and cellular biology.

The Microscopy Society of America undergraduate research scholarship is a nationally competitive award. Award winners are required to publish their finding in the Journal Microscopy and Microanalysis.
