Chilled water expansion project: Traffic delays expected

Submitted by Jack Carlson

The chilled water expansion project will take two years with periodic service/traffic interruptions. In preparation for the construction of new chilled water pipelines for K-State's Manhattan campus, McCownGordon Construction will have a few areas under construction.

Area No. 1 — Beginning March 5, barricades will be set up on the south side of Claflin Road in the eastbound lane to allow for the construction of new ADA parking south of Claflin Road. This work will be immediately north of Chalmers Hall. Restricted traffic flow and minor traffic delays can be expected; please watch for barricades and flagmen. Construction is expected to last for approximately six weeks.

Area No. 2 — Beginning March 9, barricades will be set up to divert traffic to the south side of Mid-Campus Drive to construct new ADA parking south of Holton Hall and east of Eisenhower Hall. Construction is expected to extend for four to six weeks.

A map is available to view both areas, which are highlighted in orange.
