K-State Police Department reminds K-Staters to remove temptations for thieves

Submitted by K-State Police Department

The Kansas State University Police Department is investigating recent thefts of purses, wallets and other valuables from various areas on campus. We would like to remind the K-State community about basic crime prevention tips that may deter a thief from targeting your valuables.

  • Always lock your room, office and vehicle even if you're gone a short time. An unlocked door is a thief's easiest option when they are looking for valuables.
  • Don't keep large amounts of cash in your purses and wallets. Technology allows you to inactivate financial cards. Cash is rarely recovered after a theft.
  • Do not leave valuables unsecured in public places. Laptops, tablets and smartphones are high target items and if they are left unsecured they are easy for a thief to steal.

If you have information about any recent thefts or any on-going crimes please contact the K-State Police Department at 532-6412 and anonymous tips can be sent to our silent witness website.
