Dear Deans, Department Heads, Faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants,

Before we wind down the fall term, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you to include in your intersession and spring course syllabi all the mandatory statements, and please consider including the suggested statements you will find at:

http://www.k-state.edu/provost/resources/teaching/course.htm

Additionally, the spring 2012 final exam schedule is posted at the following URL:

http://courses.k-state.edu/spring2012/information/xam.htm

All faculty, instructors and GTAs should refer to section F70-73 of the university handbook to make sure they are in compliance with the final exam policy:

http://www.k-state.edu/academicpersonnel/fhbook/fhsecf.html

Finally, the All-University Open House is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2012. As usual, classes will be canceled starting at 2:30 p.m.  Friday, April 20, 2012. If instances arise where rescheduling in specialized classrooms or laboratory environments is not feasible, or canceling sections of a multi-section course would result in the loss of an entire class day, then instructor prerogative will determine whether classes will be canceled. In these cases, faculty members choosing to hold classes at or after 2:30 p.m. must notify room scheduling, 2-1712, at the start of the spring semester to ensure that their classrooms are available. This determination should be clearly noted on the course syllabus handed out at the beginning of the semester so that students are aware of this far in advance of Open House.

I have asked director of academic personnel Susana Valdovinos, 2-4392,
svaldovi@k-state.edu, to answer any questions you may have about this.

Have a joyful holiday season and a happy new year.

Best regards,

April
