K-Staters continue to care about our neighbors

Submitted by Jan Middendorf

As of Nov. 30, the 2011 Live United: K-State Cares About our Neighbors campaign to support the United Way has received contributions from 560 K-State employees totaling $88,253.98. In addition, the United Way of Riley County has received $12,330 in donations from 48 retired K-State employees.

During this campaign, campus members also participated in the very successful K-State Student United Way “Jail and Bail” event to raise funds for community programs.  You also donated to the United Way’s Winter Warm-Up Coat Drive, to collect new and gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves and winter boots to be distributed to those in need in the greater Manhattan area.

A sincere thank you from the 2011 K-State United Way committee to all of you who have already participated in this year’s campaign. Your contributions to the United Way of Riley County support programs such as Boys & Girls Club, Manhattan Day Care, Kansas Legal Services, Crisis Center, Red Cross, and the Manhattan Emergency Shelter and many more.

As we enter the final week of the 2011 campaign, we still need your help. I encourage you to participate if you have not already done so. Additional copies of donation forms are available on the campaign website located at www.k-state.edu/unitedway. Every gift of every size makes a difference, and real change can't happen without you.
