HandsOn K-State, Movies on the Grass sponsoring free movie June 17
HandsOn K-State and Movies on the Grass are sponsoring a free showing of the movie "The Wiz" at 10 p.m. Friday, June 17, at City Park's Larry Norvell Band Shell. Everyone is welcome.
Starring Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor and Nipsey Russell, this Motown remake of "The Wizard of Oz" takes place in a fantasy version of New York City. The film follows the adventures of Dorthy, a shy Harlem, N.Y. schoolteacher, who finds herself magically transported to the Land of Oz. Befriended by a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion, she travels through the land to seek an audience with the mysterious wizard, who they say has the power to take her home.
