National Hazing Prevention Week

Submitted by Connor Hunt

National Hazing Prevention Week is in full force this week at Kansas State University. The Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity in the Office of Greek Affairs are offering several anti-hazing events this week.

Monday, Sept. 22, kicked off the week with a booth in the K-State Student Union asking members of K-State's campus to sign a pledge to end hazing. The booth also gave away wrist bands that read "These hands don't haze." The booth will be outside of the Union food court from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Office of Greek Affairs and the Union Program Council hosted the award winning movie "Crash" at 7:30 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.

Today, individual Greek chapters are asked to educate their members further regarding hazing prevention at their weekly chapter meetings.

Thursday, Sept. 25, the Office of Greek Affairs will host a "mocktail" event at 7 p.m. in the Union courtyard. The event will include alcohol free beverages, speakers regarding hazing prevention and overall safety at off-campus events.

To wrap up the week, K-State After Hours, sponsored by the Union Program Council, will feature comedian- magician Michael Kent at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the Union's Forum Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
