Starrett elected vice president of Environmental and Water Resources Institute

Steve Starrett, associate professor of civil engineering at Kansas State University, has been elected vice president of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute, the largest technical institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers, with nearly 20,000 members.

The institute administers more than 120 committees and seven journals, with an annual budget of nearly $1.3 million.

Starrett will begin his service as vice president, then president elect, president in 2016-17, and finish the four-year commitment as past president.

"I am honored to serve as a leader of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute, and ultimately as president," he said. "The members are a high-energy group with diverse interests in environmental and water resources topics."
