Clinic on new K-State wireless networks Friday
SIRT and information technology services will have a clinic from 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in 501 Hale Library, the Hemisphere Room. The clinic is on the changes to the K-State wireless network implemented this summer.
K-State is strengthening the security on it wireless networks, transitioning to WPA2 Enterprise. If you do not convert your wireless devices to the new WPA2 networks by Oct. 25, they will no longer work on the K-State wireless network. See K-State's wireless network website for more information, including
instructions on how to connect.
Staff from iTAC and the office of information security and compliance will be available at the clinic to help you configure your wireless devices for the new wireless networks. If you are having problems getting connected or connecting for the first time, bring your device to this clinic so we can help you. You can also visit the IT Help Desk in 214 Hale for assistance if you can't attend this clinic.
The clinic will start with a short presentation on the following topics:
- What has changed and why
- Timeline for the transition
- Purpose for each of the new wireless networks
- How to handle multi-user wireless devices like check-out laptops or carts of laptops used as mobile classrooms
- New restrictions on wireless access for campus guests
- How to configure your devices for the new wireless
- Q-and-A
IT staff will then be available as long as needed to help you configure your wireless devices.
