The Friends of the K-State Libraries are serving up hot jazz, good food and an evening of fun at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room.

Jazz in June will feature members of the K-State Faculty Jazz-tet performing with guest pianist Beau Thomas Jarvis. Their program, "Piano in the Foreground," features works by Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, Teddy Wilson, Horace Silver, Red Garland and Chick Corea.

Wine, beer, sparkling cider and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $30, with $10 tickets for students. Seating is limited, so reserve seats by June 9.

The K-State Faculty Jazz-tet members include Kurt Gartner, percussion; Wayne Goins, guitar; Paul Hunt, trombone; Tod Kerstetter, clarinet; and Gordon Lewis, bass. Guest pianist Jarvis has a master's degree in musicology from Wichita State University. After several years playing in Los Angeles, he returned to Wichita. He teaches jazz piano, jazz combo, jazz big band and aesthetics at Friends University.
