Anthropology faculty, students present at local anthropology conference

Archaeology faculty and undergraduate anthropology students presented research results at the 36th annual Flint Hills Archaeological Conference, March 21-22, in Fort Osage, Mo.
Lauren Ritterbush, associate professor, reviewed "The Kansa (Kaw) during the Fort Osage Trade Era, 1808-1822." Brad Logan, research associate professor, and Ritterbush discussed "The Undeveloped Reach: Archaeological Investigations of the Young Buck and Dreiling Sites, Manhattan, Kansas." Donna Roper, research associate professor, summarized "Salina Area Archaeology: Lessons from the Reed Collection."
Two anthropology majors under the mentorship of Ritterbush also presented results of their independent undergraduate research. Kelsey Kreiser summarized her ongoing research "Analysis of Leary Site Ceramics." Her project is supported by an Undergraduate Research Award. Taylor Stackley, dual major in archaeology and chemistry discussed "Testing the Feasibility of Neutron Activation Analysis using White Rock Oneota Ceramics." Stackley's research has been funded by an Academic Excellence Fund award to Ritterbush.
