Submitted by Sam Mwangi

Nancy Muturi and Sam Mwangi, both associate professors in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, working collaboratively with Soontae An of Ewha Womans University, South Korea, recently published "Students’ Expectations and Motivation for Service-learning in Public Relations" in the Journalism and Mass Communication Educator, a journal of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

The article is based on research conducted over two years assessing students’ motivation for participating in service-learning projects that are embedded in the curriculum.Students’ expectations indicate a need for discipline-focused service-learning programs and for a focus on civic engagement as a tool for understanding service learning.
