Community invited to participate in K-State Homecoming Week events

The K‑State Alumni Association and Student Homecoming Committee invite students, alumni, families and friends to join them Oct. 20-26 for an activity-filled Homecoming Week.

"Homecoming Week is a wonderful opportunity for K-State fans of all ages to come out and show their K-State pride," said Megan Sherlock, K-State’s all-university homecoming chair and associate director of student programs for the alumni association.

This year’s theme is "A Tale of Tradition" in honor of the university’s 150th anniversary. The schedule of events is as follows:

Sunday, Oct. 20

All-University homecoming philanthropy 5K race
10 a.m. at the K-State Alumni Center
Students, alumni and community members may run or walk through campus in the 11th annual Homecoming 5K Race, which benefits the Manhattan Veterans Center. The deadline for early registration is Oct. 10, but you may register until race day. To sign up, visit www.K-State.com/5K.

Greek and residence hall spirit signs displayed
All week across campus

Sidewalk chalking contest

Crazy Cat Kickoff

This series of comical games is sponsored by the K-State Association of Residence Halls and the K-State Alumni Association.

Pant the Chant
8 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum
Homecoming pairings perform original spirit cheers.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Paint the ’Ville
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Aggieville
Check out the Aggieville windows being painted by campus organizations and homecoming pairings.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Wildcats Can
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the K-State Student Union
This sculpture competition features recycled material or canned food items.

Wildcat Request Live
8 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum
This lip sync and dance competition showcases greek homecoming pairings.

Thursday, Oct. 24

K-State Student Ambassador elections
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

150th anniversary closing ceremonies
3-5 p.m. on Anderson Hall lawn
Remarks will begin at 4:15 p.m.

Children’s carnival
6-8 p.m. in the K-State Student Union

Trick-or-treat
3-5:30 p.m. in Aggieville

Homecoming parade
5 p.m. downtown Manhattan

Homecoming pep rally
Following the parade around 6:30 p.m. at the Larry Norvell Band Shell in City Park

Madness in Manhattan
8 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum
The K-State men's and women's basketball teams tip off the 2013-14 season.

Residence hall homecoming dance
9 p.m. to midnight at the Strong Complex Courtyard

Saturday, Oct. 26

K-State Alumni Association pregame

Time to be announced at Bill Snyder Family Stadium
The new K-State Student Ambassadors will be announced during halftime.
