TLC Bi-Weekly Newsletter for Tuesday, November 8th, 2022

Greetings, K-Staters!

We are now in the twelfth week of the Fall 2022 semester, and the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) would like to remind you of our commitment to support your efforts in teaching, mentoring, and advising. We are excited to announce the various priorities, events, and resources that are designed to advance teaching and learning at K-State. This video explains what the TLC can do for you.

TLC Highlighted Teacher

Robbie Bear quote graphic

Our highlighted teacher this week is Robbie Bear, whose teaching philosophy is as follows. “My teaching pedagogy is a systems approach to learning Science. I give the students a reason why they should learn the concept. I give the students the resources (readings, lectures, learning experiences, and multimedia tools) to learn the concept. Interspersed in the process, the students receive feedback on their learning of the concept, and the feedback students receive about their learning is the most crucial component of the process. However, enthusiasm, engagement, and empathy go a long way in making sure students stay engaged in the process.”

Programs & Events

We look forward to another semester of our Professional Development (PD) Series, and, again, these events will occur on Wednesdays at 12 noon via Zoom. All events are free, and no registration is required. Our schedule is available on the Upcoming Events page of our website, and we post reminders on our social media: Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. We hope to see you there.

  • Supporting First-Generation Students: On Wednesday, November 9th, Rebeca Paz, Jodi Kaus, & Han Na Lim will lead a Need-To-Know event entitled, "Narratives from First-generation Students on their Challenges in College: Exploring Teaching and Learning Implications."
