Unearthed: Art of and From the Earth

Environmental action presents itself in many forms; it isn't always someone chaining themselves to a tree or protesting outside of the state capitol. It plays a role in our lives every day with each decision we make, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear. Unearthed captures this everyday activism through various media and uses art as a vehicle for recognizing our relationship with the environment. Local artists of all skill levels to express their experiences with the environment by upcycling used products, highlighting major issues, or documenting beautiful moments in nature.
Clean Up MHK

What is a better way to appreciate the Earth than to clean it up? Join passionate students in order to clean up Aggieville and the KSU campus. We will be meeting in Aggieville at 12:30pm to start!
"What's Your Tree?: Having a Life of Purpose, Passion and Power"

Speaker: Julia "Butterfly" Hill
Forum Hall in the Student Union
Julia Hill will reflect on her personal experience as an environmental activist to inspire students into action. She will challenge the audience to consider sustainable practices and engage in green initiatives to remind us that each person can make a difference. Julia will guide the audience through several critical questions, such as: "What is it in your life that can cause you and call you to be bigger than you know yourself to be?" and "What holds you back and what tools can set you free to be the person your spirit and heart are called to be?" According to Julia, "We all have a symbolic tree or trees that create the space for us to grow beyond the limits of the mind and soar into the realms of the infinite space of living lives of loving and purpose-filled service!"

Share and Wear

Share and Wear is an interactive look into how students can be more sustainable through purchasing second-hand clothing. By running a clothing drive leading up to the event, and allowing each guest to collect one item upon attending a free thrift shop on Bosco Plaza, we can promote sustainability through what we wear. As fashion is the second-most wasteful industry in the world, it is vital that we advocate conscious consumerism.
Up-Cycled Living Fashion Exhibit

Like the Unearthed Art Gallery, this Living Fashion Exhibit captures this everyday activism through various media and uses art as a vehicle for recognizing our relationship with the environment. Designers use different mediums of clothing such as potato sacks in order to reuse traditional waste.
