Appendix C: Peroxide Forming Chemicals Management

Class A

Chemicals that form explosive levels of peroxides without concentration represent a severe peroxide hazard after prolonged storage, especially after exposure to air. Materials spontaneously decompose. Test for peroxide formation before using or discard after 3 months.

Class B

Chemicals that pose peroxide forming hazards upon concentration. Test these for peroxide formation before distillation or evaporation. Maintain a testing program/schedule to test for peroxide formation or discard after 1 year.
