About the Progressive Coalition (ProCo)
The Progressive Coalition is an OSAS-registered campus group at Kansas State University. The group was founded in the spring of 2005 by the member groups, working in cooperation with Manhattan Alliance for Peace & Justice. The mission of the group is to foster progressive activism at K-State by helping progressive groups communicate better, work together, support each others' work, and build the constituency for progressive causes and on campus.

The Progressive Coalition maintains a listserv to distribute information about progressive meetings, activities, and events on campus and in the local community. The listserv does not typically generate a lot of e-mail. If you would like to subscribe to the listserv, you can do so by sending a message to K-State's automated listserv controller. The message body should include the following command, with your personal information entered in place of the italicized words:
SUB PROCO-L your name
The list is open discussion, but anyone who shows disregard for, or hostility toward, group members and purposes will be deleted.

Links to Progressive Web Resources
The web is a vital source of information for those of us with a progressive viewpoint. There are too many good progressive sites to list all of them. This is just intended as a sampling of some of our favorites. If you would like to suggest a page, please send the URL to us and we will consider including it here.
News and Opinion:
Democracy Now! -- Web site for the radio and cable TV network that puts network news to shame on a daily basis. Most (if not all) of their broadcasts are available here as streaming audio and video.
AlterNet -- A clearinghouse for journalism of interest to progressives, taking articles from a wide variety of sources, as well as generating a good deal of original material. Also offers a good video blog and opportunities to discuss their articles with others.
TomPaine.com -- Excellent commentary in the spirit of one of America's first great political writers.
Common Dreams -- Another good, progressive news source that has been around quite a while.
t r u t h o u t -- In addition to links to many of the same articles offered by the sites above, this has exclusive material that tends to be more aggressively left-wing.
Z Communications -- Online home of a number of different radical-progressive institutions (Z Net, Z Magazine, & Z Video). Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and many other important writers appear regularly here.
Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) -- Doing excellent work as primary progressive watchdog of the mainstream media.
Progressive Organizations:
Manhattan Alliance for Peace & Justice -- Local group that helped to organize the Progressive Coalition. Sponsors many programs, speakers, and direct actions on various progressive issues. The group is in the process of rethinking its web page.
Campus Progress -- National group dedicated to promoting progressive activism on college campuses.
