Parents and Family Fund

The K-State Parents and Family Program is funded solely by generous donations. In addition to providing programs and services for parents and families, the PFP supports specific student-centered initiatives.

Funding priorities include, but may not be limited to:

Fostering Success Initiative

The PFP Fund seeks to provide "welcome to college" giftcards to students who were formerly involved with Foster Care. This is one way that K-State shows unconditional suppport to our Wildcats. To learn more about this initiative read here.

Little Budget Big Bounty

The PFP is teaming up with Manhattan Big Brothers Big Sisters and HyVee to host the first annual Little Budget Big Bounty event. With giftcards donated from HyVee pairs can shop for items on the Cats' Cupboard Wishlist. Bigs and Littles will create a budget, find items, and complete a transaction. All items purchased will be donated to the K-State Cats' Cupboard. Learn more

Give Back - Cats' Cupboard & Career Closet

The PFP was integral in establishing a food pantry that responds to the immediate needs of current students. The Cats' Cupboard is open to all K-State students and provides food, hygiene items and cooking equipment that correspond with their personal needs. Students may utilize the pantry as often as they see fit. To donate to the Cats' Cupboard via Amazon, access their wish list here.

Giving back to the K-State community is one way we define "Family." The Career Closet collects new or lightly-used business professional attire to provide students access to clothes needed for interviews, internships, and jobs. Access the Career Closet Amazon wish list here!

Covid-19 Vaccine Incentives

In 2021 the PFP allocated funds to Lafene Health Center for Covid-19 Vaccine incentives. Learn more here.

Student Scholarships

Nearly 70% of K-State students receive some sort of financial aid. Donations to the Parents and Family fund support scholarships for undergraduate students and enable those who apply themselves to their studies to remain in school, recognize academic achievement, and promote diversity in the student body

Student Employee of the Year Ceremony

The PFP fund provides a sponsorship to help celebrate K-State's Student Employee of the Year ceremony. Each year colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of the student work experience during National Student Employment Week. Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop skills relevant to any career, and better preparation for the job market upon graduation.

At K-State, our student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. Indeed, many departments depend on the contributions of this reliable workforce for their daily operations. During National Student Employment Week, we celebrate our student employees in a variety of ways. Learn more, here.

National First Generation Celebration Week

The PFP provided a sponsorhip to support First-gen 'Cats on campus. Learn more about the Office of First-gen, click here.

Family Day - K-State Legacy Programs & K-State Family Tailgate

Family Day has been a K-State tradition for 93 years. The PFP hosts the annual K-State Legacy Pinning Ceremony and Brunch and the K-State Family Tailgate, both held in the fall in conjunction with Family Day. The Legacy Pinning Ceremony recognizes the commitment of K-Staters across generations including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings. The ceremony also honors those who are the first in their family to attend K-State.

The K-State Family Tailgate event begins two hours prior to kick-off of the K-State football game and features great food, the chance to purchase drawing tickets to win $2,000 in tuition, raffle prizes, a fun-filled tailgating experience and more. Visit the website for more information.

International Student and Scholar Services Tailgate

The PFP sponsors the International Student and Scholar Services tailgate in the Fall. Students and their families enjoy a catered meal and attend a K-State Football game.

Your gift to the PFP will support programs at K-State that enhance student life in all aspects—academic, social, and professional development. Your gift is an investment in the future of K-State.
