Raillietina cesticillus (Cyclophyllidea, Davaineidae)

Experimental infections with Raillietina cesticillus. The left panel demonstrates the morbidity of a heavy infection (top photo) versus an uninfected control bird (bottom photo). The middle and right panels show numerous tapeworms attached to the intestinal tracts of experimentally infected birds. A variety of beetles serve as suitable intermediate hosts for the cysticercoids.
