David C. Hartnett

David C. Hartnett, professor of biology at Kansas State University, has served as the director of the Konza Prairie Biological Station since 1995. In addition, Hartnett has also carried out research at Konza Prairie, with an emphasis on grassland plant population biology and plant-herbivore interactions.

Hartnett is a member of the Ecological Society of America, the Society for Range Management, the Botanical Society of America and the Society for Conservation Biology. He also serves in elected positions in the International Society of Plant Population Biologists and the British Ecological Society.

After obtaining his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in biology from Bucknell University in 1977 and 1978, Hartnett earned his post-doctoral degree in plant biology from the University of Illinois in 1983. Prior to joining the biology faculty at K-State in 1986, Hartnett served as an assistant professor of biology at the University of South Florida, where he was ranked as outstanding in undergraduate teaching in 1984 and 1985.
