K-State's Project Solar House takes shape on national Mall
So at 6 p.m. on a Thursday in Washington, D.C., Laura Wilke hopped in Kansas State University's electric car and drove off in search of a gas station. Going "off the grid" was never supposed to be like this. But assembling K-State's entry in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon has required improvisation, collaboration and some contradictions.
