I am so glad I got to meet Prezi! Without a doubt, hands-down, Prezi has been my favorite project to work on thusfar in my website. I hate Powerpoints and how boring they are. So monotonous. Even “good” Powerpoint presentations still bare the look of doom that comes with Powerpoint. They’re one of the best ways to put someone to sleep in a classroom. Enough said.
Well, Prezi has completely rocked the world of simply presentations. I had so much fun making my Prezi presentation on Peer Pressure! It’s the best way I’ve ever seen to represent information in a visually exciting - even stimulating - way. It’s exciting to see where the page will zoom next and what the next words will look like. Maybe it’ll even be a movie or picture. It’s amazing just how visual the presentation is. You have complete visual control of where your words are positioned - vertical, horizontal or at a crazy angle. And it’s super easy to use! The computer automatically zooms in on your text to fill the screen.
One of the only cons I see with Prezi is that it only has so many capabilities with displaying information. You can’t bold or italicize words, as far as I could figure out. That’s a real bummer. There are only three font settings you can use (Title 1 and 2 and Body). Another con to Prezi (the only real drawback in my opinion) is that it’s not free. The prices are not bad, though, especially if you plan to use the application on a regular basis alongside with Powerpoint or another presenting software. The great news for me is that current educators and students (after confirming via e-mail) get Prezi for free!
I plan to use Prezi for the rest of college for presentations. I can just hear the “wows” I’m going to get from the audience (not even trying to be facetious - I’m sure that people will be very impressed and interested about how I made my presentations). Again, there are limitations to the kind of information I can show - simple text (one of three pre-selected fonts), images and videos. I will definitely utilize Prezi in my future classrooms. No doubt in my mind. SO glad to have met Prezi!
