Teaching honors include the 2009 Kansas Horizon Award for outstanding achievement as a first-year teacher and the 2010 KCDA (Kansas Choral Directors) Young Director of the Year.
In addition to teaching, Janie continues to perform as a guest soloist with ensembles around the state and is a member of the Flint Hills Trio with cellist David Littrell and pianist Amanda Arrington.
Janie is very excited to join the voice faculty at Kansas State this fall to teach studio voice and sections of music theory. As an active member of KCDA, Janie served five years as co-chair of women’s choirs and is the new North Central District Representative.
