K-STATE ART STUDENTS, FACULTY OFFER ORIGINAL WORKS FOR ART AUCTION 2009; PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT STUDENT ART SCHOLARSHIPS, STUDIO ART EQUIPMENT FUND

MANHATTAN -- Original artwork by faculty and students from Kansas State University's department of art will be up for bid at the department's Art Auction 2009.

Going on the auction block will be a wide variety of ceramics, jewelry, photography, drawings, prints, paintings and sculpture. The auction is open to the public. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for art students and the art department's studio equipment fund.

A preview of auction items will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2-6 in the Mark A. Chapman Gallery in K-State's Willard Hall. The preview also will be available online at http://www.k-state.edu/art/auction

Both a silent and a live auction will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in 114 Willard Hall. Admission is free, dress is casual and a cash bar will be available. Silent auction bidding will start at 4 p.m. and close at 7 p.m.; the live auction starts at 5:30 p.m.
