EVENT PLANNERS: K-STATE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SELECTS STUDENTS FOR 2011 HOMECOMING COMMITTEE

MANHATTAN -- Organizing Kansas State University's Homecoming Week is the task charged to the 2011 Student Homecoming Committee, made up of 16 new members, nine returning members and eight appointees.

Homecoming Week is Oct. 23-29, culminating with the football game Oct. 29 against the University of Oklahoma.

The committee is responsible for selecting and planning all Homecoming events, creating rules and guidelines for the student competitions, promoting the week and providing staffing for all events.

The appointed committee members include the two K-State Student Ambassadors, two Greek affairs representatives, two Association of Residence Halls positions, one representative from the Jardine Terrace Apartments and one student representing the National Pan Hellenic Council.

"Work has already started on this year's homecoming activities," said Andrea Bryant Gladin, director of student programs for the K-State Alumni Association and All-University Homecoming Committee chair. "These students were selected because they are such a motivated and creative group of individuals."

Members of the 2011 K-State Student Homecoming Committee are:

Ivy Wellman, Belle Plaine, new member and the daughter of Mike and Melody Wellman; Beau Dewbre, Buhler, new member and the son of Ken Dewbre, Marietta, Okla., and Kirsten Dewbre, Buhler; Christina Miller, Council Grove, new member and the daughter of Bill and Debbie Miller; Sophie Mans, Garden Plain, returning member and the daughter of Randy and Janet Mans.

From Greater Kansas City: Christopher Cunningham, Kansas City, Kan., National Pan Hellenic Council representative and the son of Sharon Manning and Elmer Cunningham; Taylor Gudgel, Leawood, new member and the daughter of Phil and Heather Gudgel; Kelsi Horner, new member and the daughter of Kirk and Kelly Horner, and Brooke Nolte, new member and the daughter of Tom and Connie Nolte, all from Lenexa; Christina Farmer, new member and the daughter of David and Cathy Farmer, Ashley Preston, Association of Residence Halls representative and the daughter of Steve and Sandy Preston, and Hannah Scrivner, Panhellenic Council representative and the daughter of Barry and Melissa Scrivner, all from Olathe; Danielle Lucas, returning member and the daughter of Peter and Cathy Lucas, Alli Meyer, returning member and the daughter of Mike and Susie Meyer, and Kyle Smith, new member and the son of Joe and Lynn Smith, all from Overland Park; and Sam Barker, Prairie Village, returning member and the son of Jill Harrison, Overland Park, and Mark Barker, Minneapolis, Minn.

Shae Blackwell, Hanston, new member and the daughter of Edward and Teresa Blackwell; Darren Allison, Lyons, K-State Student Ambassador and the son of Craig and Nancy Allison.

From Manhattan: Chelsey Barnes, returning member and the daughter of Bill and Cindy Barnes; and Elizabeth Hughes, new member and the daughter of Phil and Betty Hughes, Saline, Mich.

Brian Begnoche, Moundridge, Interfraternity Council representative and the son of Aaron and Lori Begnoche; Brandon Vaverka, North Newton, Association of Residence Halls representative and the son of Chris and Lynda Vaverka.
