K-STATE CAREER EVENTS FOR SOCIAL GOOD, EDUCATION JOBS TO TAKE PLACE IN MARCH

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University students interested in working for social causes or in education can meet potential employers at two on-campus March career events.

The second annual Common Good Career Fair will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. The fair is for students interested in fields such as advertising, criminology, government, nonprofit organizations, journalism, public relations, radio and television, and social work. A variety of full-time, internship and education co-op positions will be available. Among the more than 45 employers scheduled to attend the fair include the American Red Cross, Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, St. Francis Academy, Johnson County, Wichita Public Radio, KSNT-TV, Social Security Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Students attending the career fair should dress professionally and bring multiple copies of their resume and their student ID.

Representatives from school districts across Kansas and other states will be on campus to interview future educators Monday March 9. All December 2008 graduates and May 2009 and August 2009 graduation candidates are eligible for interviews. The deadline to sign up for interviews is Thursday, March 5. To sign up, students should go to the K-State career and employment services Web site at http://www.k-state.edu/ces and select the "Career Fairs and Events" link and then click on "On-Campus Interviews" and follow the step-by-step instructions to sign up for a particular interview.

Students also can update their profiles on the career and employment services Web site and upload their resumes.
