FINALISTS NAMED FOR K-STATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

MANHATTAN -- Three finalists will be interviewed for the position of Kansas State University's new vice president for communications and marketing. This is a new position at K-State and the vice president will oversee the creation of an integrated communications and marketing strategy and provide leadership for the following units: News Services, university publications, Educational Communications Center, printing services and two proposed units -- a Web design team and a marketing research team.

The chair of the search committee is Virginia Moxley, dean of K-State's College of Human Ecology and
co-director of Institute for Academic Alliances. Moxley said finalists are Jackie Hartman, associate professor of management at Colorado State University; Jeffery B. Morris, chief communications officer, University of Central Missouri; and Jeanette DeDiemar, executive director of integrated marketing and communication, University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

"The search committee reviewed a great number of nominations and applications for this position," Moxley said. "We were impressed with the high quality of the applicant pool and are pleased to present these excellent candidates to the campus community."

Each finalist will visit K-State for a day and a half of interviewing that will include an open forum. The forums will be 10-11 a.m. in the K-State Alumni Center. K-State students, faculty and staff and the general public are welcome to attend.

"We have asked the candidates to discuss their ideas for bringing integrated marketing to K-State," Moxley said. "We look forward to seeing their presentations."

The schedule of candidates will be:
* Hartman, Dec. 14-15, with an open forum Tuesday, Dec. 15.
* Morris, Dec. 15-16, with an open forum Wednesday, Dec. 16.
* DeDiemar, Dec. 17-18, with an open forum Friday, Dec. 18.
