Fire extinguished at boiler shed
The Manhattan Fire Department extinguished a fire at a boiler shed near the university's power plant around 11 a.m. Aug. 1. As a precaution, staff at the power plant were evacuated. There were no injuries.
Workers were removing a boiler from the shed when a cutting torch sparked a fire. Kansas State University Police, Riley County EMS and the Manhattan Fire Department responded to the scene.
