OH, BY THE WAY...

K-STATE TRANSITIONS TO NEW VOICE-MAIL SYSTEM
Computing and Telecommunications Services switched K-State's voice-mail system from Audix to Modular Messaging Jan. 8.

Modular Messaging offers users the ability to access voice-mail messages through traditional dial-in and also through the Web or by using an IMAP-configured e-mail client.

The voice-mail phone number did not change with this transition. Users will continue to access voice mail by dialing the same phone number they have always used to retrieve voice mail, 2-2300 on campus or 785-532-2300 off campus.

All unread and saved messages on Audix from before the transition are available for retrieval and playback by dialing 2-0000 on-campus or 785-532-0000 off-campus.

The new system will make it unnecessary to use the message manager application, as users will be able to access messages via the Web or with an IMAP-configured e-mail client. To learn how, go to http://www.k-state.edu/its/voicemail

If you did not set up your new voice-mail password and voice recording before Jan. 8, you will be prompted to do so when you access your voicemail. When you access your voice mail for the first time the default password for your mailbox is 99, followed by the last four digits of your extension. For instance, if an extension with voice mail is 2-1234, the password will be 991234.

For more information on the voice-mail transition, including how to access your voice mail from the Web and how to set up an IMAP account to access voice mail, see http://www.k-state.edu/its/voicemail.

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR THE CLASSIFIED AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
K-State's Classified Senate is taking nominations for the new Classified Award of Excellence. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 22.

The award was established to recognize the contributions of classified staff members who consistently excel in their positions and demonstrate integrity and a strong commitment to the mission and values of K-State. This award is in addition to the departmental classified employees of the year.

All classified, benefits-eligible staff may be nominated for K-State's Classified Award of Excellence if they have completed one or more years of consecutive service to the university and if they have not received the award within the past five years. Current faculty, staff, administrators, and/or students at K-State may make nominations, though no self-nominations will be accepted. Three award winners will be selected, one in each of the following three categories: office and clerical; technical and professional; and service and maintenance.

Information about how to make a nomination may be found at http://www.k-state.edu/hr/forms/excellence.pdf
