Kansas State / Fort Riley vs. University of Kansas

KSUFR : 69
KU: 5

Played at Memorial Stadium Manhattan, KS on April 23, 2011 at 1:30 PM

KSUFR dominated the governor's cup matchup against KU in a physical contest. For the first 10 minutes, the game was scoreless as KU maintained posession with forwards running off the base and committing lots of forwards to the rucks. That tie was broken, with two quick tries by wing Kenny Scott and the rout was on. Flyhalf Joe D'Agostino hit the first of his 7 conversions on Scott's second try. The third try was scored by flanker Evan Talbott, the fourth by Scott, and the fifth by hooker Dan Knapp. The score was 31-0 at the half. In the second half, KSUFR brought on numerous reserves, but didn't miss a beat, scoring 6 more tries in the second half. D'Agostino scored two, Knapp scored his second, Scott scored his fourth, No. 8 Tyler Hodges scored one, and wing Michael Chen scored after a nasty stiff arm by center Chris Stafford.

The game was marked by strong defense by KSUFR. KU was unable to handle the pressure defense, consistently moving backwards with each phase, and losing possession before stringing many phases together. The lone KU try was scored when they charged down an attempted kick to touch.
