K-State at Heart of America 7's Tournament

Played on September 23, 2011 at Kansas State University

Results: 4-1, 2nd place

Summary: In the first game of the day, K-State was able to pull off a win against a much more experienced 7's side. Oklahoma won the College Station 7's tournament last weekend, and competed in the Collegiate Rugby Championship 7's this past summer. OU jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first three tries of the match. They missed two kicks, however, and that would come back to haunt them. In the second half, it was all K-State as they scored three tries of their own. At the final whistle Kenny Scott scored a try under the posts, and hit his second conversion of the game to give K-State a 19-17 victory. K-State cruised through the next three games, beating Arkansas, Truman State, and Oklahoma State easily to finish pool play undefeated. In the championship game, Oklahoma got their revenge against K-State as they scored seemingly at will. Mark Dierks scored the lone K-State try for the game and teh team had to settle for a second place finish.

The KSUFR club/b-side dominated in the B bracket, beating Truman State B twice and Salina for a 3-0 record, where they were never really challenged.
