Minutes for September 11, 2002

I. Call to Order by President Loni Marietta at 4:15 p.m.

II. Roll Call

Present: Laura Fath, Loni Marietta, Gary Parker, Aaron Pflughoft, Emily Tharp.

Absent: Vicki Conner, Clint Franey, Jack Fries, Lindsay Preisinger, Mary Riley, Matt Wiles, Angie Zimmer.

III. Minutes Approval-Minutes of August 28th were not available and will be read and approved at the next meeting.

IV. Officers' Reports

 

A. President-

1. Budget is due to SGA and was turned in on Friday, September 6th.

2. We need HIPE Advisor for an AV for Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. Please email Loni if you can serve. She is now in charge of assigning volunteer HIPErs to this duty.

B. President-Elect-No report

C. Treasurer-Absent

D. Secretary-Absent

E. Information Coordinator-

1. Revision of HIPE Constitution and By-laws is on the web site.

F. Social Coordinator-

1. Discussion of date for bowling social activity for HIPE. September 30th at 8 p.m. was selected. RSVP to Loni or Laura by Wednesday, Sept. 25th.

G. Honor Council Liaison-

1. Discussion of proposal to HC on new strategies for appointing representatives from three groups on campus. Transfer students, adjunct faculty, and student affairs staff. Gary will draft proposal to submit to HIPE at next meeting. If he sends email asking for response, please do.

H. Student Government Liaison-Absent

I. Honor Council Committee Representative-

V. Committee Reports

1. Loni will discuss these later.

VI. Advisor Reports

 

A. Announcement that Gary was filmed in one presentation but technology failed at the meeting. Will show next meeting.

 

VII. Unfinished Business

 

A. Loni spoke about attending the Center for Academic Integrity (CAI) on October 4-6 at the University of Virginia. There is also a slogan contest being run by CAI which she will try to advertise through the Collegian.

B. Loni will begin asking for committee members for two of the goals for this year. One is for boosting the HIPE membership by spring. Three members volunteered for this committee—Aaron, Gary, and Emily.

 

The other committee concerns Goal #3--contacting various institutions to speak about the KSU Honor System. Laura volunteered for this.

C. Loni will also be appointing a committee for Integrity Week. Please email her for your preference. Everyone needs to be on at least one committee. Much of the work of the committees will be done by phone and email.

 

VIII. New Business

 

A. Loni will start sending a weekly email to keep members abreast on HIPE activities. Please respond in a timely manner if requests are made.

B. Discussion about a fundraiser for HIPE. Decided to look into Bramlage clean up after games. It’s profitable, but hard work.
