Course Name: Interview Designer: Utilizing Competency-Based Interview Questions

Prerequisite:  Completion of Hiring Top Talent and Introduction to Search Committee Roles and Responsibilities

Length of Session:  2 Hours (in classroom)

Audience:  Supervisors and Hiring Managers

Session Description:  This session focuses on building an aptitude amongst interviewers at the university and equipping leaders on best practices during the interview process. Participants will learn how to develop and ask competency-based interview questions and how to drill down on an experience in order to consistently assess an applicant.

Session Objectives:  As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Identify and apply the best practices associated with preparing for, conducting and evaluating structured interviews.
  • Define the right competencies for screening, selection, and development according to position level.
  • Practice asking structured interview question.
