Course Name:  Foundations of the Family Medical Leave Act

Length of Session:  Self-Guided, approximately 20 minutes 

Audience:  Human Capital Services Liaisons

Session Description: Employees often need to take leave for medical reasons. It is important that HCS Liaisons are involved the process to appropriately document any leave that is approved for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) protected leave. This course provides the foundation for HCS Liaisons to administer FMLA leave for your department, unit, or college. A secondary training, FMLA Administration, will be offered in late spring 2018. 

Session Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will: 

  • Gain a general understanding of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Understand why FMLA is important to both the employee and employer
  • Obtain resources to further understand FMLA
