Take a Geography Class!
Learn more about some of the courses offered by the Department of Geography and why geography and spatial thinking continues to be critical for students in practically every major.
Spatial thinking involves the ability to visualize and interpret locations, positions, distances, and movements...all essential performance measures in the evaluation of patterns and processes. The National Science Board has identified spatial thinking on par with quantitative and verbal reasoning skills for success in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Similarly, the National Research Council argues that improving spatial thinking skills is essential for preparing the next generation of learners for life and work in the 21st century.
