Intensive English Program
Study English to prepare for a degree or your own personal or professional goals. The ELP is part of Kansas State University and ELP students are enrolled K-State students and enjoy access to all student services and activities including:
Full-time students take 18-20 hours of classes every week. In general, students who come to study on an F-1 visa must be enrolled in a full course load of 18 credit hours.
Levels and Classes
Students take the English Proficiency Test (EPT) when they arrive at Kansas State University. EPT scores are used to place students into the right level of ELP classes or to demonstrate that they have English proficiency needed to begin university classes in a degree program.
Students move through the ELP at different speeds and are placed into levels based on these guidelines.
Earn University Credit
All ELP classes carry undergraduate academic credit at Kansas State University. Check out the K-State Fast program if you want to use ELP classes toward your degree from Kansas State University.
