Protocols Reviewed

Title: " Molecular interactions between plants and pathogenic bacteria"

NIH Guidelines: Sections III-D-5 and III-E-2

Meeting Comments: The proposed study aims to investigate plant immune responses to bacterial pathogens, including Salmonella enterica. The study will include bacterial mutants and plant infection assays to evaluate bacterial virulence, colonization, and plant immune responses. The project does not meet DURC/P3CO criteria, and appropriate biosafety procedures and mitigation plans are in place.

- Please provide the specific strains of the biological agents that will be used in the study. If not all strains are known at this time, please submit a modification as additional strains are determined.

- Regarding "First, targeted knockout mutants will be generated in selected pathogenic bacterial strains using established molecular genetics approaches." Which methods will be used?

- Regarding "Mutant strains will be verified by appropriate molecular assays and compared with their corresponding wild-type strains." Which assays will be used?

- Salmonella is RG2 instead of RG1, please update.

- Please include the types of disinfectants that you will use.

- Please provide the decontamination plan for the grow chamber, including the disinfectants that will be used, their concentrations, and the applicable contact times.

- Please ensure that no experiments requiring BSL-2 containment are conducted until the BSC has been certified.

Other Business: none.
