Protocols Reviewed

• Protocol ID: 1862

               Title: "Nairobi Sheep Disease Virus Pathogenesis in US Sheep Breeds"

               NIH Guidelines Section III-D

               Meeting Comments: This project involves testing both wild-type NSDV and a reverse genetics-derived virus in vivo to evaluate pathogenicity and immune responses. The project does not meet DURC/P3CO criteria, and appropriate biosafety procedures and mitigation plans are in place.

• Action taken: It was moved and seconded to approve the protocol pending the resolution to the following stipulation.
  • The Committee voted unanimously to approve the motion.
• The following will be communicated to the PI:

           - Please provide additional details about the gene gun, including the model.

           - Please list all plasmids that will be used in the project.

           - Include the human cell lines in the table.

           - Clarify which of the biological materials being used are derived from humans.

           - Please specify the disinfectant that will be used in the sprayer (Peroxigard).

           - Update PPE to read: "N95 or optional PAPR."

           - This section should only include lab locations.

           - Change "AGBSL-3" to "ABSL-3Ag."

           - Please also list other possible optional lab rooms. Additionally, update the BSC certification dates.

           - Please clarify that plasmids will only be mixed in the BSL-3 lab space, and that all virus propagation work will be done in BSL-3 lab space.

           - Update to: "Tyvek or similar coverall or disposable closed-front gown".
