Good Afternoon and Happy 4th of July!!!!

I hope you are safe, healthy, and staying strong. Here are some things for you to do in preparation for this coming marching band season at K-State:

1. TUTORIAL MARCHING AND PLAYING VIDEOS!

The DRUM MAJORS and all SECTION LEADERS have created a series of videos for you to watch and learn the marching style, and pre-game music BEFORE YOU GET HERE TO K-STATE.  Please take the time to learn all you can to better prepare you to earn a spot on the field this Fall.   If you have any specific questions regarding your individual instrument you can contact your section leaders for help.  They are very good people who know this band and will be happy to assist you!!!

Here is the LINK:

And here is a WELCOME letter from our DRUM MAJORS!!!!!!

Please click HERE for the letter!

2. INSTRUMENT DELIVERY TRIP!

I will be making a trip around the state delivery instruments to those who DO NOT have an instrument to practice on this summer.

Here is the schedule and info you need to make a decision.  The deadline for reserving an instrument is MONDAY, NOON, JULY 6.

Here is the Delivery Schedule for Tuesday July 7, and Wednesday, July 8:

TUESDAY, July 7:

MANHATTAN - 6-7:00 pm, Mccain Loading Dock

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8:

SALINA - 9:30 am - 9:45 am, “FLYING J” Truck Stop, I-70 and Ohio Street.

GREAT BEND - 11:30 - 11:45 am, WAL-MART parking lot.

WICHITA - 2:15 - 2:30 pm, WAL-MART parking lot, 53rd and Meridian.

KANSAS CITY - 6:00 -6:30, “THE LEGENDS" NEBRASKA FURNITURE MART parking lot.

TOPEKA - 8:00 - 8:30 pm,  I-70 REST AREA east of east Topeka toll booth. (Dunkin Donuts)

You will need to be wearing a mask, social distancing from us, and wait for us to get the horn for you and put in on the ground.  The instrument will have your name and location of pick up on a piece of masking tape on the case. You must also have a vehicle large enough to transport the instrument IN the case (Sousaphones,  bass drums, tenor drums, etc.).

Here is the link to reserve the instrument you need:

https://forms.gle/iUmG7vsspTpmCa8x7

Once you arrive - or if you cannot be there, someone you designate can pick it up, we just need to know who that is (see form) - you will be asked to take a picture of the QR code to complete the instrument transfer.

If you need to pick up an instrument before or after this time you will need to come to MHK and we will take care of you - just let me know.

You will be required to return the horn when you report this Fall.  I remind you all that you are financially responsible for the well being of the instrument and total replacement if lost/stolen/destroyed while in your possession.

If you have any questions you can contact me anytime or contact your section leader.    We are here to help you and we are excited you will be joining us in this great marching band!

Welcome to K-State!

Be safe, stay healthy, play your instrument, get off the couch, wear a mask and wash your hands!!!!

GO BAND!

Instrument Rental-Delivery Clarification:

For those of you that already have your own instrument to practice on this summer, you do NOT  need me to bring you a horn on July 8.   Use your personal instrument to practice this summer, and if you need one of our silver horns for marching band and will give you one of our instruments when you get here for band.

For those that have paid your rental fees for the instruments those funds will cover your Fall responsibilities, you do NOT ned to pay for the summer use (if you are taking one of our instruments.)

This should clear up any confusion!

Thanks and GO BAND!!
