Scoring
As the reader progresses through the story, points are awarded for taking three different but complimentary types of actions: Intelligence, Courage, and Kindness. Scores on each of these types are added together for a total score. The reader can check his or her score at any time by clicking on the Listen icon (an ear) and then on Yourself.

Intelligence
Solving difficult puzzles and making discoveries earn points for Intelligence. For example, finding Maize's medicine earns Intelligence points.
Courage
Acting courageously when faced with real or potential danger earns Courage points. Forces of Nature and its first episode Snow Night, can be intense at times. Danger has to be a part of the story to make courage possible. Defending oneself (Using Power Hands On something) may be necessary to defend oneself or stop the aggression against another by someone else. For example, going down into a dark cellar earns Courage points the first time the reader does it.
Kindness
Helping and caring for another character earns Kindness points. (Using Gentle Hands On something) might earn such points given the correct circumstances.

All three types of points strengthen the concept that actions have consequences. The total number of possible points is about 100, though achieving that number could prove to be very difficult. The story unfolds over three time periods. Some scores are time dependent, so once that time has passed, the score cannot be achieved. This difficulty adds to the replay value of the story game.
