Your partner will need to feel protected
The mother’s primary focus is on her baby. She may be tired, vulnerable, and insecure. Her emotions might range from sadness to happiness and then to anxiety and back again. So her emotional life may feel chaotic. Your presence and attention will help her feel safe and protected. You do this by being there and by taking an active, confident role in helping with housework and caring for the infant. You contribute to her security by assuring her of your love and providing support in both big and little things.
