Self-respect cannot be gained in isolation of caring others
The first three elements must find fulfillment in the fourth, “I am a friend.” If we stop with the first three we run the risk of elevating ego to potentially selfish heights. “Friend” builds on personal strength for a more noble purpose of caring about and for others. Self-respect cannot be gained in isolation of caring others. As self-respect is learned it must be expressed in a positive social manner.
