Self-esteem is widely viewed as feeling good about oneself or holding oneself in high regard. Since it’s prominence in the late twentieth century, researchers and educators have recently begun to question whether this notion of self-esteem is truly predictive of positive social outcomes.

What do you think? Self-esteem certainly sounds important. But important for what? Take a moment to reflect on this issue. Does your definition of self-esteem focus on feeling good about oneself?
