Anger factors
The effectiveness and appropriateness of a skill choice depends on several factors:

1. Are we angry with ourselves, another person, or something else?
2. Is the person who is the focus of our anger present?
3. Is the other person angry?
4. How old is the other person?
5. How much power does the other person have over us?
6. Is the other person a stable, reasonable person?
7. What degree of personal risk do we have in the situation?

How we manage anger with our children has some significant differences than how we might manage our anger toward a vindictive supervisor or abusive spouse.
