Personal investment
Inappropriate or destructive emotional responses can have physical causes. A long history of volatility can have an effect on how the brain manages stress. Habitual, severe anger can be difficult to change because the neural pathways that calm emotional reactions are not working effectively. Chronic sleep disturbances like sleep apnea can contribute to the stress. In these cases, medical attention is necessary.

If you are receiving such professional assistance, you might be taking this course as part of some therapeutic involvement with your counselor. I think the information here could compliment this work.

Some of us may become aroused to anger more quickly than others. Some of us have a difficult time cooling down after getting hot. Anger is a part of life. Like pain and sadness, it can have a positive role in our lives (more on this later).

Please take responsibility for your participation in this course. Anger is not an easy issue to discuss. On many occasions, you will be asked to consider your past and present experiences related to your anger and the anger of others. If you feel uncomfortable with the material, consider bookmarking your location and returning later. You are always the one in charge of how you proceed in FireWorks.
