Length
At least 15 pages

Style
APA or Chicago Manual of Style (consistency is critical)

Paper
8.5 x 11 white
Black print from quality inkjet or laser print
12 point font—Arial, Helvetica, or Times New Roman
1.25” margins top/bottom/sides
Stapled or spiral bound (must lay flat so no bulky 3-ring notebooks)

Topic
The application paper can consist of the study of anger or anger management and its application to an issue and/or career of interest to you. The topic does not have to focus on children.

For example:
--Philosophy and anger: Aristotle, Seneca and Thomas Aquinas
--Anger in the preschool classroom
--Anger and the modern warrior: Self-control in military training
--Anger in children’s literature
--Rage and the breakdown of restraint in crowds
--A feminist interpretation of the significance and management of anger

You must have the topic approved by the instructor BEFORE submitting the paper.

Send an email to the instructor at: casmith@ksu.edu and provide the title and brief description of your proposed paper. I will respond as soon as possible to approve your choice so you can begin working on your paper.

The paper must be accompanied by an approved, instructor-provided cover page. Print, fill in, and attach the cover page template to the front of your paper.

Grade criteria
Application paper is worth 0-100 points

60 pts Substance
Quality of reasoning, insight, and references. References can be from the course, from your journal, or from library works. The paper shows creativity and clear ownership by the writer.

25 pts Organization
Are the ideas assembled in an easy, logical style, with headings and subheadings that flow from one to another?

15 pts Quality of writing
Is there consistency in style? Has the work been carefully proofed? Is it grammatically correct?
