4. Get the person to talk
The best way to self-regulate during anger is to start talking about the anger. Talking engages parts of the brain that are dormant during anger arousal. The more you talk, the more you are likely to feel the anger subside depending, of course, on the circumstances. So helping others to put their anger into words while they are feeling angry can be an important part of anger management.
