Overview
FireWorks-3 is an asynchronous course. This means students
will be starting and completing at very different times and will proceed
at their own pace. There are no class meetings. You will meet other students
on the message board who may be halfway through or near completion of
the course. You can take this course as quickly as you wish and when you
wish. We anticipate that it will take 45 hours to complete the course
(based on 15 hours per credit), including work on the applicaiton paper.
Important: You have to take responsibility for pacing yourself to complete
course requirements. Do not wait until the end of the course to submit
your work.
You may print a worksheet of all course requirements and grade guidelines.
Refer to this worksheet as you read the information on this Overview page.
Course requirements worksheet
FireWorks-3 includes the following seven components:
1. Ten Modules (lessons)
A series of ten modules (lessons) designed in a conversational
format. These lessons are divided into two sections, one on anger managment
principles and one on anger management skills. Each of these two sections
are followed by a self-test that is not scored. This self-test provides
you with an opportunity to review information in the lessons for that
section.
2.
Personal Journal entries
Even though they will not be read by the instructor, journal entries
are a critical part of applying course principles and skills in your
work.
The 28 entries in the journal will also serve as a record of your progress.
You can return to this journal long after you have completed the course
to reexamine what you learned.
3.
Message Board submissions
Participation on the Forum is a critical part of course participation
and the creation of a learning community. This signicance is reflected
in the contribution of posts to the message board in the grade.

Teaching FireWorks to others
In addition to the ten lessons, a section on using FireWorks in educational
programs is part of the course and can be reviewed once the ten core content
lessons are completed. This section is optional for undergraduates (will
not be included in the final exam) but required for graduate students
(and may be a part of the final exam).
