Effective helping strengthens the person who helps
As you look over your responses to the Workbook activity, are there common themes between helpful and unhelpful responses? Keep these themes in mind as the course progresses.

Caring about Friends is not something we do just for them. Every act of kindness we offer makes us stronger, deepens out emotional capacity, and builds our sense of community engagement. Our caring is likely to attract the caring support of others when we need someone to care.

Although our caring transforms us, we care because someone is suffering and needs us. Caring is the right thing to do. As others borrow our strength, we grow stronger.
